Philadelphia Marriott Convention Center Hotel

After the successful award-winning adaptive reuse conversion of the historic Reading Terminal Headhouse (Wilson Brothers and F.H. Kimball, 1893) to serve as the ceremonial entrance to both the commuter rail station and the Philadelphia Convention Center, BLT was commissioned for an expansion of The Philadelphia Marriott Convention Headquarters Hotel located within.  The upper seven floors were renovated to provide additional space for conference capabilities with a 210-unit suites-type hotel featuring additional meeting space, a ballroom, terraced restaurants and other public spaces overlooking Market East and the Convention Center's brilliantly restored clear-span train shed.

The guestrooms feature high ceilings, spacious plans and large historic windows.  The two-story Grand Ballroom occupies the Reading Railroad Company’s original ticket and waiting area with vaulted ceilings and decorative molding reminiscent of the room’s former splendor.  Large windows and doors open to the loggia terrace overlooking Market Street, and similar windows allow views from the pre-function area into the great hall of the Convention Center.  Combining a state-of-the-art banquet kitchen with aesthetic qualities unique to a hotel ballroom, it has become one of the pre-eminent meeting spaces in Philadelphia.
