BLT was consulting architect for Garage A West and Garage E/F at the Philadelphia International Airport. These two structures form bookends to the existing Garages A East through D. Flanking Interstate 95, the garages serve as the entry gateway to the City of Philadelphia for motorists approaching from the south.

While the existing five story garages were the spring point for the initial height and detailing of the additions, the new garages have deftly increased to seven stories in height. As a result, Garage A West, at 82,035 SF provides 1,600 new spaces and Garage E/F, at 176,645 SF provides 3,560 new spaces. The garages opened on a rolling basis in the spring of 2001 and 2002 and more than double the structured parking capacities at the airport.

BLT was also responsible for the facade enhancement of all six garages resulting in a monumental elevation of more than ¼ mile in length. This entire facade is accented at night with a series of metal-halide lighting fixtures that make the garages highly visible from Interstate 95. Each of the garage entries is highlighted with a signature sculptural element, a 40' tall stainless steel tube entry sail that is fiber-optically illuminated from the roadway below.
