Building on the success of the high-speed Acela rail, Amtrak and Aegis Property Group retained BLT to explore maximizing the 30th Street Station property, a major stop on the Northeast rail corridor.  Adjacent to Center City Philadelphia, Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania, the site was determined to be of best use as a mixed-use development of office, conference center hotel and parking.

Phase I involved the development of a 1,700-car garage, providing needed parking for increased rail travel.  The garage was positioned to allow construction of an 800,000+ SF office building adjacent to the station in Phase II.  Phase III anticipated a 300-room hotel tower and a state-of-the-art 30,000 SF conference center spanning the rail tracks.  An additional office building to the west would fill out development opportunities immediately adjacent to the station.

Architectural imagery was conceived as an expression of the Acela high-speed rail and designed to take advantage of the high visibility of the site from Center City and adjacent expressways.
