A new approach to city planning
Barcelona as a prototype for the mediterranean city.
As opposed to the typical western approach to city planning where we attempt to maximize space and therefore profit, Barcelona took a different approach. Wide streets and interior courtyards give buildings ample amounts of sunlight. While the chamfered corners of blocks give buildings more sun and cars an opportunity to pull off to the side so as not to impede traffic. – Sam Siegel, past BLTa intern
