The Vanderbilt’s, along with Architects Richard Morris Hunt and Frederick Law Olmstead, had materials shipped in from all around the country in order to complete their 12,000 sf Asheville estate in the 1895. In order to get the materials to the site they had to build a special extension of the railroad right to the construction site; only to be demolished after completion. – Stephanie Beirne, RA, LEED GA, Design Staff
