Description

BLT Architects designed a middle school building that provides both an independent identity for the students and relates contextually to the campus. The building’s aesthetics are led by natural materials -€“ stone on the exterior walls and roof, and a generous amount of woodwork to provide a long-lasting interior. Learning spaces range from an amphitheater commons to varying-sized classrooms to built-in hallway benches where middle school students practice behavioral norms.

The commons is sized to enable the entire middle school to congregate, but its design is intimate enough to serve an individual class or extended day students studying. The classrooms feature natural light, several different color schemes, flexible furniture arrangements, and ample visual display resources.
