- Description
Created from several former storage rooms including the original ale cellar, Cellar 62 was created to provide a complimentary experience to a member’s event. Cellar 62 has a tasting room, cellar, and member reserve foyer-and is a two-story jewel built of rich woods, textured stones and contemporary glass cases that forms the member entrance to the new Culinary Center. The program outlined the storage, holding and aging, of 4000 bottles of wine in climate controlled cases.
The historic segmented rooms with multiple doorways contributed the ability to design several spaces that could be utilized individually or for one large party. The original half-octagonal bay was cased in sleek walnut and is used for wine tasting. To give the cellar a formal dining opportunity, the spacious height of the cellar is emphasized by the tall carved wood library ladder and clerestory light formed from the original windows, and cases and furnishings symmetrically designed.
