Description

As a part of an overall renovation to increase the value of the hotel to the target audience, new spatial concepts for the lobby and restaurant areas were introduced. The first was to convert the existing lobby into a “great room”, blending uses across the restaurant, bar, check-in and lounge areas. To do this we demolished the existing check-in, restaurant, restaurant lounge and lobby seating areas to make an open space that has each of these distinct functions incorporated. The new sit down restaurant incorporates a bar that Marriott refers to as a day/night bar that can be converted from breakfast-coffee service to full service restaurant or full service bar. The lounge that is a part of this space bleeds into the newly renovated double height lobby. In the existing lobby, a new gas fired fireplace was installed to define and separate the public lounge area from other hotel functions and circulation.
