- Description
Originally built to accommodate the offices of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad, this historic railroad facility, designed by prominent 19th century architects and engineers, the Wilson brothers, is the linchpin of Philadelphia’s burgeoning commercial district east of City Hall. Serving as the ceremonial entrance from Market Street to Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center, the headhouse also connects directly via a second-story skybridge to the neighboring Philadelphia Marriott Hotel and, at concourse level, to the commuter rail network, Aramark office tower and Gallery retailing complex. Newly renovated and remodeled street and concourse levels of the building now accommodate a variety of retail and food service operations.
