Description

The cornerstone of Columbia Heights’ revitalization, DC USA is a transit-oriented retail complex located adjacent to a new Green Line Metro station. Uniquely urban in scale, businesses have direct street level access. The largest tenants – Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, and Washington Sports Club€“ are entered through a cylindrical glass atrium.

Architectural details respond to existing neoclassical buildings, and include turret, bay, and cylinder massing, with buff brick, cast stone, vision and spandrel glass, aluminum, painted, and stainless steel detailing, along with preservation of a historic facade.

More than $12 million of annual tax revenue has been created by this project, which was financed by a combination of developer equity, pre-sale of a condominium unit to Target, a Citibank construction loan and TIF bonds for a publicly-owned parking facility.
