Description

The conversion of an existing surface parking lot into this bus station and parking facility required a design that would become the new identity of the Norristown Transportation Center. The seven level structure provides parking for 540 cars.

The building is a pre-cast concrete structure, clad in a sculptural composition of planes of brick and stainless steel screening materials. These screens are lit from above by dramatic, cantilevered light fixtures that create an effect of lightness, reducing the visible mass of the structure. The stair towers are fully glazed and provide beacons to guide the public to the facility.
